Surprise!

Oh boy, have we got a treat for you! We have pokey-tongue, we have scrunchy face, i.e. “I wanna cry but it’s too much work,” we have waggly feet, and Leah threw in an extra detail you’ll just have watch to see.

  1. What a beautiful video clip of Leah. She is so alert and it looks like she is really connecting and attending to you. This is wonderful! And she took the pacifier- maybe a bit of overload though huh? May she continue to progress day by day and bring joy with each teeny tiny triumph! Sleep well you 2! XO

  2. Thanks Jess! Today was the first day we got any extended period of time (i.e. more than about a second or so) of baby-eyeball time. She’s mostly just kind of peeked them open briefly, usually one eye at a time. We had so much fun with this.

She actually seems to like the pacifier in small doses. We gave it to her again a little bit today. The occupational therapist came in and talked with us and she said we should try to have her use it each time we come in to visit, if she’s awake. More on that later.

  3. Oh my gosh, she’s so huge now! She already looks so much more like a little girl (as opposed to a squinchy newborn) than in the first pictures you posted here. Has she been putting on weight to the doctors’ satisfaction?

    • Actually, she has lost a few ounces; infants often do right after birth! Last we asked she was 3 lbs 2 oz. But since they are starting to increase her feeds, hopefully we’ll see some growth soon! Her little cheeks look like they’ve filled out a bit.

  4. That brought tears to my eyes. What a little sweetie pie, wrapping her tiny fingers around yours. I love her little face.
